£250 STILL REQUIRED
FINAL APPKAL TO BE MADE
A meeting of the committee which is collecting donations for the purchase ot Gray's Hush was held in the Borough Council Chambers yesterday afternoon. After perusing the lists in hand, it was found that the sum of was still required to complete the purchase. It was decided that once all the lists were handed in, a final appeal should be made to the public to subscribe the balance required. The Mayor said' they bad started out to collect £6OO. The committee had worked hard, and there were still several lists to come to hand. At present only £348 10s bd was in hand, practically all the money having been collected in town. They were still £250 short of the requisite'amount, bat it was possible that the outstanding lists would bring in a further £ICO.
Mr. Kenway suggested that the out standing lists' should he called in, and that they should then make, a filial appeal lor the balance,
The Mayor suggested that the committee should meet again next Monday. This was agreed upon. The Mayor further pointed out the exceptional terms under which the. purchase was being made. The total amount required was £3CCO- Of this sum the Bruce trustees were finding £ISCO. the Government £SOO, Mrs. Gray £3CO, and the Barker family £IOO. That meant that the district had only to raise £6OO. or one-fifth of the total cost. He. felt confident that the residents would not allow such an exceptional opportunity to jl'lßS.
