When this was the ease the buyers would have none of it. The attendance of the public was again large. The evenness of the bidding was evidenced throughout the sale. As an instance a conservative run of twenty lots of crossbred ranged from 2!!d to 2(i-lcl. In another similar page of the catalogue, the range was from 2ld to 25id. Occasionally the bidding took a sharp upward turn as a choice Jot of fine crossbred super or Corriedale was offered, the prices for'these frequently topping the .'!od mark. The aim of the optimistic grower to realise 24d per pound for crossbreds was realised. Average prices throughout the sale were maintained remarkably well. Experts estimate the average price per pound to be from 23|d to 24|d, making (lie average price per bale about £,'55, which was the figure set on the opening night of the sale. Finer wools realised approximately the same as those offered at the southern sales. Coarser wools showed an advance of about hi per lb. The top-.prices today were 36Jd for six bales of halfbred and ."(i]d for two bales of super half-bred.

The range, of prices at the Auckland wool sale compared with the February sale is as follows, the February figures being given in parentheses: — .Merino —average 33IJd to 35Jd ( —). Fine half-bred —super 28d); average 32d to 34d (21d to 2nd); inferior (2il(\ (o 19d). Medium half-bred —average :!()d to Mil (-■).' Coarser half-bred —super 30d to Mid (-—): average 27d to 21)d (-—.). Fine crossbred —super 28d to 2!Hd (l!)d to 21fd); average 24d to 2b'd (.17(1 to 18-.lt)); inferior 22d to 24d (loci to USUI). Medium crossbred —super 2,'xl to 27d (.18(1 to !9.}.(1); average 23d to 24d (Kid to 17'd); inferior 20d to 22d (I4d to Isd). Coarse crossbred—super 23d to 25d ( bid to I (bid); average 21 cl to 23d (.14(1 to 15Jd); inferior 2(1.1 to 21d (13d to I4d). Lincoln crossbred —average 20d to 21 id (13d to 15d); inferior (Hid to 123 d-).
