The Arahura arrived from Napier at 8.45a.m. today, and was tendered with one launch for outward and inward passenger's at 10 a.m. The stearnar sailed at 11.30 a.in. for Auckland direct, which port, she should reach-about 10.30 a.m. to-morrow.

The Flora .sailed for Lytteiton at 12.30 p.m. yesterday. After discharging her cargo of sheep at that port she proceeds to Dunedin and loads again for Napier and Oisborna at Dunedin, (.lamanii, Timarti, and Lytteiton. She is due here about tho 17t!i iust. The Aiipouri is due,in Auckland from the Coast rind fiishorne on Monday next. and saiis the same; evening for this port. The Parera arrived from Napier at 9 o'clock this morning, and sails for Wellington on Monday. The Awahou loads at Wellington for Napier and Gis born* on Monday arrl Tuesday next.

The Putiki arrived from Waikokopu last night, and loads for the Coast and Auckland.

The Tiroa cleared for the, Coast and Auckland last nigfit. She is due at the northern pert at noon on Monday, and sails on Tuesday foe the Coast and (lisborne.

The Union Co.'s now cargo steamer Tvaimni, which left London on Oeto'b'er ](5 for Cnpe Town, Hobnrt, and Auckland, was launched this year at Papendreeht, Holland. She was cngined by C. A. fvuypers, of Rotterdam. The Kaimai's principal dimensions arc: 120- ions gross; length, 23(5ft.; boom, P,7ff. <>in.; depth, 18ft. Tho Marine Department have decided to increase fhe sire of the gasreservoir cylinders at a number of unwatched lights on tho coast to double their present capacity. The increased amount of gas available for these lights will save the Tutanekai a lot of time on her trips around the lighthouses. Owing to bad weather considerable delays occur on account of the difficulty of effecting a landing at the miwatehod lights. The innovation will enable the Tutanekai to proceed on her way as the gns at the lights will be sufficient till the vessel returns on her next round trip. The largo cylinders will be installed at the lights at Olttiri Point, Chetwood .Island, Ohona Island, Flat; Hock, Ponui, and Mntakaoa. The new cylinders, which are to be of solid drawn metal, have just been ordered.
