EARLIER, MEETING URGED
ELECTION CAMPAIGN

WELLINGTON, this day. In the House of Representatives yesterday Mi- Holland asked whether the Prime Minister would arrange for Parliament to meet earlier next, year, in order that it. might close about, the rtid of September and give members time to gel. over their electorates for the gOnera.i election campaign. The Prime Minister said lie would take the proposal into consideration. He understood the argument brought forward pretty well. He himself had suffered in days gone by from, the same thing. “Mv electorate is the whole* of New Zealand,” remarked Mr Massey, amidst laughter. “The. last time, short as the time was, I took the opportunity of addressing 46 meetings, which I think was a. very good record for tho time.”
Mr Sullivan : “Does, that account for vour minority?”
The Prime Minister: “The lion, gentleman has always some nasty suggestion to make. lie cannot help it, however, sir. W*. are quite able to hold our own and a. bit more. 1 wish the lion, gentleman would forget- party for once. It would be better for him and fh t ; citizens he is supposed to represent.”
In conclusion Mr Massey .said he saw no reason why the .suggestion should not he carried out..
