ARMISTICE DAY.
SUGGESTED OBSERVANCE. A communication with regard to the suggested observance of Armistice Day, which falls on next Tuesday, was- -received. to-day by the Mayor, Mr G. Wildish, from the Prime Minister. letter read ap follows: “His Majesty has approved the following arrangement for the observance- of ijirpustie November "11 : 1. A thort service will be held at the j Cenotaph'on the lines adopted in'me-' vious years. IJis Majesty the King will be present- apd will lay a wpeath. 2. Two minutes’ silence will’fie observed at li a.ih. Local authorities in this country will be asked to arrange for the suspension of all vehicular traffic for two minutes from 11 a.m., but rail and water transport- will not be suspended. “In accordance with His Majesty’s the King’s washes, I should be glad if yon would kindly make suitable arrangements for the Borough of Gisborne. TWO- MINUTES’ SILENCE. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. A cablegram received by the Govefn-nor-Gonctal from the Secretary cf State for the Colonies conveys the King’s wish that- Armistice Day shall be observed, as iii past years, by two minutes’ silence at 11 a.m.
