POVERTY BAY A. (f>) BEAT WAIROA B. (nil.)
The second match played yesterday afternoon, Poverty Bay A. v. Wairoa B, drew a large crowd to the Reserve, and the game was watched with great interest. The match was an exciting one right from the start, play being fast, though Poverty Bay had the best of it. From the commencement. Poverty Bay kept up a steady attack, hut several forward rushes were repulsed by the Wairoa backs. A good run by the Wairoa forwards was well blocked by Miss Ncwey. An attempt at g< al by Miss Hill from a free hit by Miss Golding was put behind by Miss- Whaungn, the Wairoa goalie. A passing rush hv Misses Hoi, Hill, and Bilham almost resulted in a score, but the bpll was put over the net by Miss Bilham. A good run by Wairoa was spoiled by off-side play. A rush by Misses Hei and Hill almost resulted in a score, a good save being made by Miss Wliaanga. A shot at the Wairoa goal by Miss Fauchelle went wide, and a similar shot by Miss Hill went behind. Miss Hill repeated this movement, but the ball went wide. For the most part the ball was kept in Wairoa territory, but their backs were strong and several good saves were made. A good shot, by Miss Hill went behind. From g 25 inilly Miss Hill secured from Miss Hei and scored. Poverty Bay A 1, Wairoa B nil. Miss Fauchelle secured from a puss by Miss Hill, but, the ball went behind. Miss Hill again secured and made ai good score. Poverty Bay A2, Wairoa B nil. Miss Hill secured from Miss Fauchelle, but obstruction gave Poverty Bay a penalty corner.. A good shot- by Miss Hill was well saved by the goalie. The score was unchanged at half time. On the resumption of play a good run by Wairoa was well blocked by Miss Ncwey. Miss Ilei secured and made a successful shot at goal. Poverty Bay A 3. Miss Fauchelle got possession, but a good shot was cleared by Miss Wliaanga, the Wairoa goalie. The Wairoa forwards pressed hard, hut, Miss Fauchelle secured and took the ball down field. Miss Hei took possession and made a good score. Poverty Bay A -t. Wairoa forwards thou commenced 1o attack but a score was well saved by Miss Golding. A good shot at the Poverty Bay goal was unfortunately missed by Miss Tereln. Miss Edwards look :i sniarl shot al Ike Poverty Bay goal, which was well saved’bv Miss Newey. Miss Fauchelle made a brilliant solo run, but the ball went behind. Miss Fill took a shot from just within the circle, and the ball went in by a narrow margin, Poverty Bay A ft, Wairoa B nil. A good shot at goal by Miss Fauchelle was narrowly saved by Miss Wliaanga. When tlie whistle blew finally the score was unchanged. Messrs. O. R. Olsen and 11. Arm strong were Hie referee’s.
