DEALING WITH' THE ESTIMATES. (Special to the Herald.) WELLINGTON, this tlav. Parliament adjourned in the small hours of this morning, after being engaged 8A hours on the Estimates, during which time no fewer than 86 speeches v/"re delivered. The proceedings were the dullest of the session up to date'. Mr Young took the chair as chairman of the House in Committee at 2.45 on Friday afternoon, and the debate on Education Department estimates lasted from then Until two minutes after midnight, during which period 62 speeches were de’ivered. La Mr membe rs spoke 32 times. Liberals 17 tames, and Reform five times, the Minister, Hon. C. J. Pan, replying eight tunes. The .Marine Department estimates followed on, and by j 46 a.m. another 22 speeches had been delivered, 12 by Labor, three by Liberals mid three bv Reform, the Minister the Hpn 0.» J. Anderson, replying four times. Mr. V.'illord and the Hon. C. .1. Parr were the only speakers on the Jus lice Department estimates. The remaining five Departments dealt with went through without discussion, the: House adjourning at 1.50 this morning. The following were votes passed: Education, £2.753,822; Crown Law Office, £5283; Justice. Department, £46.065,: Supreme and Magistrates Courts, £96.680: Prisons, £84,971; Marine, £121.544 ; Pensions, £97.554.
