The record surplus of working profits achieved by the Post and Telegraph Department in 1922-23, was almost equalled by last year’s operations. The excess of receipts two years ago w.ls £572.774; for the last financial year the excess was £563,288. A summary of the department’s account was given in the Financial Statement, Receipts were £2,681,240, a decline of only £6528, while- expenses, including interest on capital, were £2,117.952, an increase of £2958.
