“When I first went to China I thought that I would have to do a. lot of teaching, but I soon found that I was learning more than I taught. Westerners are all wrong : the 'Chinese are not. as backward a nation as is generally understood. Eighty-five per cent, of the Chinese race follow agricultural pursuits; they have been farmers for thousands of years. However, the Westerner can teach them much about modern implements,” said Mr. Dome, manager of the Chinese University football team, at a reception in Palmerston North.
