HUNT CLUB’S STEEPLECHASE

MEETING

The above meeting was continued at tlie Park, this afternoon, the weather conditions being ideal. In tlie race for the Hunt- Club Steeplechase, which was won by Maliia, the latter and Parakete lead off, but Radio canio to the front, followed by Fortunio and Maliia. In the straight' Radio led from Fortunio, with Golden Point third and Maliia- fourth. Passing the stand Parakete pulled out. The order remained unchanged round to the back, except- that Maliia replaced Golden Point. At the three,-furlong bend four horses were together, Mabia taking the lead from Fortunio, with Radio and Golden point handy and Whispering Sam last. Maliia, Radio and Fortunio entered the straight in that order, but at the next hmdie Fortunio fell and brought down Radio. Afahia, Golden Point and Whispering Sam were the only ones left ia iho race, and they went round the course well spend in that order, until Whispering Sam came to grief at the hurdle on the western bend. He was remounted. however, and finished the race a long way behind Golden Point, win was four lengths behind Mahia. SWARTHMOOR MAIDEN HACK HANDICAP, of 50 so vs., second horse to receive 10 sovs. out of the- stake, bor horses that have never won a race of any description at time of nomination.
