ENGLISH ASSOCIATION TEAM’S TOUR. . (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, last- night. The following communication has been received by the New Zealand' Football Association from Air. A. E. Gibba. representing Australia, and New Zealand in London m Association, football matters. with regard to the proposed visit of the English team to Australia and I lie Dominion next. year. “The 'proposed tour starts, at the, end. of March and terminates at the end: of September. Th© estimated cost, not including the steamer and rail fares and hotel bills, is £6500, this to he paid by you. Any surplus will he refunded. The suggested -party numbers 23. The above figures include the estimated wages of professional players, outfits, personal expenses, anil insurance. Australia, and New Zealand are lo make the necessary arrangements and purchase tickets for tlie voyage to Australia, and New Zealand and return.”
Commenting upon this communication, the secretary of the New Zealand 'Association (Mr. B. L. Salmon) said that the total estimated expenditure was £15,000. There would be fifteen playing weeks, of which Australia would get nine and New Zealand five, and this worked outin proportion of six-fifteenths (on the basis of proportion of playing weeks). New Zealand’s share of the cost-Would be about £6OOO, wini-cli was approximately the cost of bringing out the Glupiese University students team at present in the Dominion. It was admitted that tlicr© would not- be so large- a number of matches, but lie did not consider there would he any difficulty in New Zealand’s coming out on the right side at the end of the tour.
