SLIPS ON ROADS.

MANAWATU GORGE BLOCKED

(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Advices have boon received here that the Manawatu- Gorge road is blocked by an enormous slip. Slips earlier in the week were cleared away, but now another has occurred at the eastern end, where road widening is in progress, the road is likely to be closed indefinitely. A large slip" lias also fallen on top of the hill on the Akatarawa road, now much used as a short cut from Palmerston North to Hutt- Valley.
