TARUHERU FREEZING WORKS.
THE SEASON’S KILLING
The Taruheru. freezing works at Woipaoa closed for the season a short time ago, and the killings indicate that the season, though fairly successful, has not been as good as some in the past, Several factors contributed to this reBiflt. At the commencement of thei season a strike at the works delayed killings, and a number of mobs that would have gone into Taruheru were diverted to other works.
The season was a most erratic one. Dry'weather during the summer months affected the number of lambs coming forward, and during January the killings fell off considerably. They picked up again later in theiseason, and right up till a few -weeks ago plenuty of stock came forward. A feature 6f the season was the large number of cattle that were killed. The quality of these lias excited very favorable comment on the part of buyers and visitors from, other districts, and it would appear that the quality has been much above the average. The killlings, which are given below, are slightly below the figures for last year.
Cattle ». ... 10,058 Pigs 30 Pheep ... ... ... ... 67,880 Lambs 80,311
