The case of a- returned’ soldier-farmer was referred to by counsel at Wanganui during I lie hearing of a- civil action. He sajd the man lived in a- very simple maimer, and! during the first year on his property did not kill 'a- single sheep for food, lie had been very hard' up, and had lived on hush pig and deer. The man was only 16 miles away from town, but had l .not visited it once in three years. In fact lie had no clothes suitable for him to g)o to town in.
