THE TOURING TEAM.
POVERTY BAY RUGBY REPRESENTATIVES. (Special to the Herald.) PALMERSTON N., this day. Tlie Poverty Bay team were taken on Sunday to Feilding for a drive, being the guests of the Manawatu union. They leave for Pahiatua this afternoon. Owing to injuries Turei, Charles, and E. Torrie will he unable to play on Wednesday. Wotton, J. Torrie, and Morgan replace them. There are prospects for fine weather and a good attendance at to-morrow’s match. The team has now only two more fixtures to fulfil. They will meet the representatives of the Bush Union at Pahiajua to-morrow, and the final match, for the Ranfurly Shield, will be played against Hawke’s Bay at- Napier, on Saturday. The present arrangement is (hat the team will return overland from Napier next Sunday. The chances for success in to-morrow’s match appear to be bright, in view of the success so far attained by the team. There- is not the slightest doubt that Die team has more- than fulfilled the expectations of local enthusiasts, and has so far acquitted itself very creditably. It is difficulty to forecast the result of Saturday’s match, in view of the fact that six All-Btncks are included in the Hawke’s Bay team, but our boys should put up a. good showing, and if they succeed in bringing back the coveted trophy, they will have completed one of the most successful tours ever rpade by a local team. . . r.
