M. Merlin, French representative, has arrived and was welcomed by Government and municipal officials, officers of the Embassy, and leaders of the French colony. To-morrow he will be received in audience by the Regent, who will attend an Imperial lunch given in his honor.

Many morning papers editorially welcome the visit as an opportunity of cementing friendship in economic relations between France and Japan.
