TOKOMARU BAY.
The Tokomaru Bay Ladies'' Hookey Club openoxl the season with a danco in To Pnka Hnll on Friday,' May 2. It was ji {{rent success. The ladies provided refreshment, and. planning was kept up until nearly one -o'clock. Owing to the inclement weather, the Tokomaru Bay Public, School Committee meeting was poistponod until the following Monday, May 12. A benefit night was; given by the proprietors of the Lyqic Pictures, in aid of the funds of the Tokomaru Bay Native School. The hall was well filled, and everyone /'enjoyed an excellent programme. In the interval Mr. Rawhiti I'aerata publicly thanked Mr. M. L. Holah, and declared it was the first time in the history of Tokomaru Bay that a benefit night had been given in aid of the funds of the native school, land all the local Maoris greatly appreciated the fact. The committee had; their own doorkeepers, and Mr. Piieratu "was in the box office. The funds of the school will benefit by a substantial amount, as, besides the takings for the pictures, several donations were forthcoming from othejr sources.—(Correspondent.) I [_ k
