The Daily Express states that serious tension, exists between the French and Turks on the Syrian frontier, where the 'Turks have an army corps under Farred din Pasha.
The French bombing operations in Syria, are more than a punitive expedition against brigands. Two French aeroplanes have been shot down, by Turks. French casualties in recent weeks areestimated at four hundred.
It is reported that a Bavarian general, Von Lossow, formerly attache flfc Constantinople, is attending a council of war winch is being held by Gennan instructors training the Turkish army. To meet the threat, the! French have only three divisions in' Syria.. General Weygand is urging that reinforcements be sent, which St. Poincare and Marshal Foch oppose, preferring to evacuate Syria. This -would be a, menace, to Palestine.
The French have not yet ratified the Treaty of Lausanne.
