A JOINT STRIKE.
LABOR AND CAPITAL. ARGENTINE PENSION LAW. (Australian rad N.Z. t'nhlo As«ooiatior.) BUENOS AYRES, May 5. With both Capital and Labor’ on strike, demanding the postponement of the application of the pension law, President Alveyar to-day announced the sending of a message to Congress indicating that he intends’ to enforce compliance with the law, but proposing amendments designed to meet objections to it. The chief complaint is that the law postpones, for two years, the establishment of the scheme’s benefits and' meanwhile requires employers and employees to contribute to the fund’, not knowing when or in what proportion the employee will get his money back. BUENOS AYRES, May 6. Given, an assurance by the President that the Government would go to the utmost to rectify the situation in respect to the pension la'w, committees representmg employees and employers have recommended 1 their constituents to drop their protest movements. The employers have agreed to re-open the places of business on, Tuesday. The workmen to-night are debating the question.
