THE BETTING EVIL.
AT FOOTBALL MATCHES. (Per Press Association.) Cl I BIS'rC-H URCH. la Sl night. The Peninsula Rugby Football subunion is to take action to combat the spreading evil of’hefting on football matches. The matter was brought up at the annual meeting by V. Craw, a referee, who stated he had found from his own observations that the evil was spreading and was undermining Peninsula football. He advocated that the sub-union should take a firm stand and act vigorously- .in tlie suppression of the evil. He suggested that any player found betting on the result of a match should lie suspended. Members present agreed with Mr Craw, and it, was decided that the sub-union should take definite action.
