ATTACHE CASE AND CHEQUES

The alleged theft of tin. attache cast and six cheque hooks, valued at £5, the property of Sydney' Tli'omas Gray, resulted in the appearance of a man named Gwynne Yates before Mr. K. C. Levvey, S.M., at the Magistrate’s Court, this morning; Detective McLeod asked for a remand until April 17, to allow further enquirief to be made. The accused applied for bail, hut tin application was opposed by Detective McLeod,’ who stated that such a course might defeat the course of justice. The Magistrate remarked that tin amount was small. Detective McLeod stated that there was a, greater question than the actual value involved.
