ALLEGED THEFT.
ATTACHE CASE AND CHEQUES
The alleged theft of tin. attache cast and six cheque hooks, valued at £5, the property of Sydney' Tli'omas Gray, resulted in the appearance of a man named Gwynne Yates before Mr. K. C. Levvey, S.M., at the Magistrate’s Court, this morning; Detective McLeod asked for a remand until April 17, to allow further enquirief to be made. The accused applied for bail, hut tin application was opposed by Detective McLeod,’ who stated that such a course might defeat the course of justice. The Magistrate remarked that tin amount was small. Detective McLeod stated that there was a, greater question than the actual value involved. Three hundred dheques had been stolen, and one of these had since been presented."
