SOUTHAMPTON STRIKE.
UNION’S ORDER TO MEN
(Elec. Ted. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reuter's Telegram.) LONDON, April 9. At a conference of London Shipyard Unions involved in the Southampton strike, it was reported there was not a two-thirds majority for continuing the strike, and the executive of the union ordered the men to return to work tomorrow. It is hoped this will avert a lock-out. (Received April 11, 10 a.in.) LONDON, April 10. Lockout notices were withdrawn in the ease of the .Shipwrights’ Society, which expelled its 1200 Southampton members. The operation of the lockout has been suspended in the ease of other shipyard unions till to-morrow, to give the. Southampton members a further opportunity of resuming. (Router’s Telegram.) (Received April 11, 11.50 a.m.) LONDON, April 10. The Southampton strikers overwhelmingly resolved not to return to work.
