UNITED STATES’ ATTITUDE. (Australian and N.Z Cable Association.) WASHINGTON, Jan. 1. The United States Government is pleased with the attempt by the League of Nations to extend the’principles of the naval ratio defined by the Washington treaty, but Administration officials do not regard seriously the suggestion that the United States should participate in the forthcoming London Conference thereon. It is pointed out that the United States prefers to remain aloof from such a naval conference., because participation would involve tacit recognition of the League and because Russia would bo represented.
