ARE THEY UNWORKABLE?
RUMORS IN LONDON.
LONDON, August 16.—The London Daily Mai) publiwhes a Sydney message stating that Sir George Fuller's £6,000,000 settlement scheme is ■ unworkable, and there is much distrppoii.ntaii.cait in consequence amongst applicnaits for overseas settlement. Officials tell the special representative of the Sun that they hope Sii Georgo Puller will arrange for the pub licutioai in England immediately of a .statement of the exact position so as io reassure the public. No official report of any difficulties hi<K been received. It is pointed out that the scheme covers the Murrumbidgce and North Coat* areas, besides the Murray river, and that if delay h;iK nriwen in connection with the Murray scheme, the Premier should concentrate on the easier areas. It was anticipated that Mhero would be some delay in .getting the scheme into full operation, but it is expected (here will be a commencement during tl:e first year.
