The monthly meeting of the board ol directors o£ ; lhe Y'.W.U.A. was. held in the club rooms. Present : -Mesdames. E. 11. Maim '(in the chair), W.' GaiTyle Wilson, J. 11. Kane, Garrett, M. Bayly, A.. Graham, O. D. Stewart and Misses Brown, Caldwell, Scott, and Edwards (general secretary). Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames C G. Holdsworth (president), G. W. Hum-phreys,-D. G. Robertson, E. M. Hutchinson, H. Ken way, and J. S. Faulds*. Mrs, I. Quigley wrote, tendering her*resignation as a board-member, which was received with regret. Mesdames'F. W. Riach and Hunt were nominated as board members. Mrs. J. S. Faulds was elected a vice-president.

Letters were read re the visit to New Zealand of Miss Mary Dingman, world's Y.W.C.A. industrial secretary. Miss Dingman, who arrived in Auckland last week, held a training course for board members, secretaries, and leaders, and went on to Christchurch and Dunedin for the same purpose. On her return to Wellington from the South the training institute will be concluded. Miss Edwards (general secretary) and Misses Brown and Scott will go from the logal association to attend tho Wellington gatherings. The members of the local board are holding a spring flower sale on Saturday, September 1, combined with a musical programme and afternon tea. Last year this proved a very happy gathering, and the board look forward to a pleasant repetition. Seven new members were received during the month. The secretary reported that everything was going on quietly. Influenza had affected the members in the cafeteria for a week or two, but things were normal again. At the close of the meeting Mrs. E. H. Mann, on behalf of the board members, presented Mrs. Kane with a very charming hand-bag in crocodile leather. Mrs. Mann and Miss Edwards spoke appreciatively of the work done by Mrs. Kane ever since the beginning of the Y.W.C.A. in Gisborno.
