COPENHAGEN, Aug. 21. Mr. Volstead, lecturing before the Anti-Alcohol Conference, said that, prohibition in the United States had resulted in 4i decrease of crime, caused the closing of twenty prisons, .and saved the nation! four to five milliard dollars. The Danish delegate, Professor Warming, said the.consumption of alcohol in tins United States now amounted to at lease 20 per cent, of (he consumption prior to prohibition The American delegates questioned thin statement, which the Dutch delegates supported.
