ENORMOUS INVESTMENTS IN UNITED STATES. (Eke. Tel. Copyright—United! Press Assu.i (Australian anil N.Z. Cable Association.) (Received July 24, 2.50 p.m.) LONDON, July 23. Sir Eric Cleddis, presiding over flic 35th anniversary of the invention of the Dunlop pneumatic tyres, said the world now possessed fifteen million motor cars, of which the United States had twelve million. The capital in the motor industry in the United States was equal to the total capital of the iron and steel industry, find the Tjnited States' had spent more on new roads in the last 25 years than the total capital of all kinds invested in railroads. With an improvement in brakes and non-skid tyres the speed limit was becoming ludicrous, but an improvement and classification of roads would lead to the. abolition of the speed limit. Tho British motor tyre industry was suffering from American competition, also competition from France and other countries with depreciated currency.
