HOCKEY ASSOCIATION.

The weekly meeting of the Poverty Bay Hockey Association was held last evening, Mi- A. N. Stubbings presiding. A reply from the Opotiki Association was received accepting Friday, August 3rd, x as, a suitable date for the Norden Cup match. Mr. J. Henderson was appointed l-eleree. As a curtain-raiser, it was decided to play a return -Maori v. Pakeha ladies' match. It was further decided to allot 25 per cent, of the net proceeds of this match to the Queen Carnival Committee, with the recommendation that half of the allotment be devoted to the Maori candidate, and the balance shared equally between the other three candidates.

On account of the races and the very wet condition of the Reserve all games o.i both Thursday and Saturday, excepting the Kia Toa and High School A match, were postponed. This match is lo be played on Thursday, at 3.15 p.m., oi. the-High School ground. Referees, Messrs, Grade and Armstrong. The Grounds Committee reported on the condition ,of the ground, stating that owing,to faulty drainage ono end of the ground is entirely waterlogged, and quite unfit even for practice.—lt was decided to ask all men hockey supporters to meet the Grounds Committee on, Thursday afternoon on the Reserve, to endeavor, to drain the ground. On the recommendation of the Haapu Rose Bowl Committee, it was decided to play this competition on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, August"i4, 15. and 16, on the Childers road reserve, and the representative Country v. Town ladies' match for the Billcliff Cup on Fridya, August 17th. In view of the approaching Norden Cup match and the very wet condition of the ground, it was decided that the selectors approach the Soccer Association with the object of netting, permission to hold representative morning practices on, the Soccer ground. t The congratulations of the Association are extended to the three ladies, Misses Gallagher, Newev. and Hill, upon their inclusion iri the North .Tsland team.
