The construction of the railway between Awakeri and'Taneutiua is proceeding satisfactorily and steam, shovels are working at high pressure. The survey of the route between Waimana and Opotiki lias commenced. The survey party is encamped at Kutarore. After_ completing the survey between Waimana and Kutarore and commencing the survey towards* Opotiki the, survey .party will .probably , shift camp to Opotiki, and make a complete survey from here.
