STATE BANK.
INTER-SOCIETY DEBATE,
At a committee meeting of the Gisborne Students’ Society held last evening, the particulars and conditions governing tho inter-society debate to be held in Napier on August 10 were resolved as follows: The subject clioson was one of topical interest, viz., “That the establishment of a State Bank would be in the best interests of the Dominion.” The team to bo selected will consist of three persons, and the following restriction was placed on qualifications for selection of the team: The debaters would be confined to student members of tho society who were as at December 31 last not eligible to the New Zealand Society of Accountants. The Gisborne team lias chosen the affirmative side of debate, and will leave for' Napier on Wednesday, August 8, returning on the Saturday following. The debate will be an annual fixture, and will be held in Gisborne and Napier alternately. A handsome challenge trophy has been donated and it is forecasted that spirit- ■ ed competition will ensue between the rival societies. -» Tho selection of the team will bo made next Monday night, and any person desiring to participate in the debate should hand his name in immediately *o the secretary.
