NATIVE CHILD’S DEATH.

The inquest into the circumstances of the sudden death of the two-year-old boy, Hemi Teohuka Rangiwaia, was held tli's afternoon, before Mr. E. C. Levvey, S.M.

Barbara Rangiwaia, mother of the de ceased child, said that he had not been sick since he was very young. He took ill on Sunday and the doctor was sent for, but the child died before , the doctor came.. She, had had sixteen children, and had lost six of them. Up tiil Sunday this boy had been quite well.

Dr. R. M. Gunn stated that he had made a post-mortem examination of the body. There were a few sores on. the face. The abdomen was distended, and the kidneys were enlarged, and in his opinion death was due to acute inflammation of the kidneys.

The coroner returned a verdict in accordance with the medical testimony.
