GREAT COIN COLLECTION FOR ITALY.
ROME, March 11—The Italian Government lias just purchased the line collection of coins put together during many years of patient research by the late Oomm. Francesco Oneccbi. of .Milan.
It consists of over 20,000 pieces, of which 900 are gold, and for its richness, beauty, variety, and excellent state of preservation, it- ranks as one of tlie gvedt. numismatic collections of the world. Its gem is a unique exemplar of the gold medal of Tlicodorie, and it. also includes a series of 500 rare medals executed in the three metals, gold, silver, and bronze. Tho sum of one bullion four hundred thousand lire has been paid by-the Government to Comm. Gnecelii’s heirs, and it is considered that ties is far less than the collection would have fetched bad it been put lip to public auction.
