OPERA HOUSE.
Tlie booking tio date for “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” at tho Opera House next Friday and Saturday shows that the producers were wise in their selection of “The Dream” for a local Shakespearean production. The play as presented' is practically identical with an abridged! edition acted in London in 1661 -under the title of “The Merry Conceited Humors of Bottom the Weaver.” This was performed secretly at a timo when theatres were suppressed and closed. The more tedious love scenes of Demetrius and Helena, Lysander and Hermia are omitted in order to give plenty of scope for the humor of the tools and! their play before the duke and the beautiful fairy dances in the forest scenes. The aim of the producers to present a two-hour performance of the wittiest and prettiest parts of the “Great Comedy” is successfully carried out. Patrons are advised) to secure seata in good time, as circumstances will not allow a season of longer than the two nights advertised. The plan is at Muir’s.
