GISBORNE WOMEN'S CLUB.

FLORAL DISPLAY,

The floral exhibitions of the Gisborne Women’s Club are eagerly, looked! forward to, and not one of the least beautiful is the autumn show, which took place yesterday ini tlio Club rooms. Members and' their flower-loving friends attended in great numbers, andi the looms were thronged from 2 to 5 with interested and adfhiring spectators. The beautiful large social room lends itself .as an artistic setting for the display of floral specialities. Tables of decorated' baskets' and bawls were a centre Of attraction. Roses, chrysanthemums, daphnes, carnatiops, heath, dahlias, autumn foliage arid berries were in profusion, and' iti would be difficult'-.to' choose between the exhibits. An exquisite display of cactus dahlias by Mi's. H. Garrett was milch admired. Delicious afternoon tea was dispensed by tho following hostesses : Mesdames Cedei;wall, Burr, Doddrell, Blackburn,-Goffo, Friar (senr.), Broadh”"st, ’’Yocre, and T. Garrett. Tlio Gardening, Circle are-to be commended bn their efforts. Mrs. T. A. Crawford is president,'Mrs., L. F. Williams convenor, and Mrs. R. Hepburn (Manutuke) lion, secretary. Tho following members dimUiyed blooms: Mesdames J. R. Kirk, T. A. Crawford, Cede .'Wall,' T. Ftearsbn, Sidebottom, H. White, (loffe, C. Adair, T. Corson, T. Garrett, AY. ,J. Robinson, R. Hepburn (Manutuke), , Redstone, arid Misses I. Corbett' 'Crossland 1 and Rosie. Expressions of admiration and' d'elight were heard on all sides, and the spring display is being looked forward to.‘’;MVs. C. Adair’s chrysanthemum display. was particularly fine.
