LONDON, April 12.—The League_ of tlip. Church Militant, which is a section of the Anglican community, under the presidency pf Miss Maude Roy den, lias commenced an agitation to secure in the new Prayer Book flioi omission pf the promise to endow his wife yritji all his worldly goods, the bride’s prpfpise to obey, ami also the ceremony of giving away the bride, The League asserts that the promises are untrue, and> that it is an appalling thing for a woman that, at the most solemn moment in her life, she should lie obliged to taker a vow which she has, no intention of keeping. “Some working folic,’’ it is added, “prefer ta live together without marriage, because the woman believes that the husband 1 has the right to beat bis wjff. T*'f giving away of the woman is a relic of barbarism, ami! the question, 'Who giveth this woman?' is absurd, ns well as humiliating for the woman,”
