The Dorset and Tainui arrived .today from Southampton with 205 and 196 immigrants respectively. After leaving the English Channel the Dorset experienced heavy weather for ten days. On the night of February 23 a violent cyclonic hurricane was encountered) whichs£| tihiesVattained a velocity of over 100 miles: an hour. Seas swept clean over the decks and boat deck, and carried away the screens and 50 feet of rail. , The* vessel was practically hove-to for three days. ; ' On February 24 she logged only 54 miles. After passing 'the Azores favorable weather was experienced for tho tcmainder of the voyage. . ' • "• • . ■ The Tainui, which left Southampton a fortnight later, when three days out from, Balboa, sighted tho schooner Napo, flying distress signals.' She reported her provisions had gone bad. The vessel had on 1 board 36 souls, including the passengers and crew 'of another small sailing vessel wrecked •' on the Galapagos Islands. The Tainui gave ample to carry the Napo to her
