AMAZING FIGHT BY WOMEN

The decision of the authorities to arrest a parish priest at Wisclmitz, in Polish Silesia, for refusal to obey a law Court'sorder, led to an amazing conflict. The authorities, anticipating resistance owing to the villagers’ strong feeling, ordered out the village infantry, 80 cavalry and many policy. Church bells immediately called the defenders to arms.. Practically all the women rallied to the vicafagb, joined hands and sang the Litany. Then, as tho attackers, closed in, the women received them wiilj volleys of hot salt and sand. - .
Only tlfo cavalry charge decided the battle and enabled the military , to carry •off the priest, and a- large bodyguard of lighting, scratching and screaming women. ....... ■ .
