The major portion of the balance of the material required for the equipment of the automatic telephone at Wanganui has arrived there. The work of installation is an intricate task and 1 is being proceeded with as rapidly as possible.
The allocation to the Wairarapa Power Board for the Mangahao scheme is 800 h.p. for the first year. The board considers the Government should allow it some concession in connection with the Kourarau scheme, in addition to that conceded for taking the peak load, as it is contended this stand-by plant, estimated to produco 1000 h.p., is more in the nature of a national auxiliary than anything else.
