ROWING CHAMPIONSHIP.

AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, last night. For several years the New Zealand rowing authorities have been negotiating with the controlling rowing body in Australia with a view to arranging annual rowing championships between Australia and New Zealand. The New Zealand Rowing Association sent a remit to the Australian Championship State annual rowing conference last season outlining the proposals for annual championships, which would ba held alternately in Australia and New Zealand, aniLat, which oarsmen from both countries would compete. The remit was not pat on the order paper for discussion at the annual conference held in New South Wales last season, but word has now been received hv Mr Balfield (lion, secretary of the New Zealand Rowing Association) from Perth, where (he annual conference is to lie Hold this season, stating that the New South Wales Association lias given notice of a motion to discuss New Zealand's proposals further. An invitation is extended to a representative from New Zealand to he present at the con f«:ence, which opens about May 5, and place the New Zealand point of view before the conference- It is understood that Hie Council of the New Zealand Rowing Association will make an effort to send a delegate in response to the invitation.
