BOWLING.

PEACE SHIELD TOURNAMENT

The annual contest in connection with the much-coveted Peace Shield, subscribed by members of the Gisborne and Kahutia “Bowling Clubs' in commemoration of the end of the great war and the dawll of peace wits commenced till the Kahutia- Bowling Club’s greeii yesterday morning, in ideal weather. The arrangements for the contest., which was held under the auspices of the Gisborne Bowling Centre, were thorough and complete, and much credit is duo to Mr. W. ■'J. Hueston (secretary), and his capable assistant (Mr. W. J. Heliliessy) for the admirable manlier iii which everything went, off, there not being a hitch in the whole of the day’s play. Shortly after 9 o’clock, the president of the Centre (Mr. J. Rothwell) opened the tournament with a short speech in which he welcomed the visitors most cordially, and trusted they would all enjoy themselves and have pleasurable games.
