TRIPLE WEDDING.

BIG GATHERING NEAR WAIROA

A large gathering of both Maoris and pakehas from all the surrounding districts assembled at Whakaki, near Wai roa, on Saturday afternoon, to witness a triple Maori wedding, at which the Rev. M. Munro, Anglican clergyman, officiated. Great interest was taken in the ceremony, as the happy couple -were descendants of the great pioneer Maori chiefs.

The arrangements were all carried out in. 3 complete and elaborate manner, all cooking done in Maori style, and there was a sufficient supply for upwards of 500 present. The contracting parties were: Pura Tforomona, a grandson of the chief Iforomona Taruna, to Miss Lena Brown, daughter of Rangi Brown, of Mahia; and Ranei Teri to Pini lloepa; and F.ru Cooper to Maud Horomona. All brides looked most becoming in silk dresses, with veil and orange blossoms, and they were the recipients of a ]ai*e number of beautiful and costly presents. After the ceremony, which lasted most of the afternoon, congratulations were extended to the newly-wedded by several pakeha visitors from Witfroa. The ceremonies were continued on to midnight, the final part of the programme being a dance.
