WAIHT-KATIKATI SECTION: GOOT. PROGRESS REPORTED.
No less Hum 120 men are at present engaged on the Waihi-Katikati seelioi of the East Coast Main Trunk railway construction work, representing nearly double the number employed for .souk years. The progress onMhe section dur in.g the past two or three months h.i been most .satisfactory, and the bridge construction in Waihi i.s well advanced. To thei Victoria Street bridge there oinly remain to be added two pile abutments and the strengthening of the- girders at- present in position. The concrete piers of the Mangatoetoe bridge are all finished, the girders only remaining to be put in position, The conrrel.*> abutment- of the Adum<s Street bridge is timbered and ready for filling. The foundation concrete piece on the roadwav is about, ready for filling, and two pile piers are to be driven. The foundation holes for two of the bridges in the gorge between Waihi and Athenree are being concreted up, and other bridge work is tils'* in hand.
