(per Press Association.) CHIUSTCHUKCH, Inst night. The hearing was. commenced at. the Arbitration Court of a dispute, between the employers and the waterside, workera'.'unions. TheGreymouth, limaru Westport, and Lyttelton /employers had cited the unions in, dispute, and asked for the substantial reduction of rates of pav, and important variations in the working conditions. The employers arc asking for o Dominion award, and evidence" had already been taken in Auckland, Wellington, and Dunedin. Captain'Gill, wharfinger for the Weetport Union Co., urged the necessity for continuous work at that port, the abolition of. "stop work" meetings, and minimum payments as for three hours on night shifts instead of four. He also considered the employers should have a say as to whether men. should work or not in wet . weather. The, • hearing, w;is adjourned till to-morrow:
