MATAWHERO STOCK SALE

.'There was a moderate attendance of buyers at the Alatawhero stock sale today. Bidding was rather on the slack side, except tor one or two lines. The ydtdings of the different classes of stock were "small. The quality-of the stock offered! in, the fat sheep pens was flot up to. that yarded last week, the best price obtained being 18s 6d. Prices generally in; these lines were on about a par with those ruling last Wednesday. There was si. poor yarding of fat cattle, •one cow only being sold, at £3 ss. Pigs were not numerous, but seemed to show a slight increase in value. There was a, small yarding of store sheep, all the pens being sold before the luncheon adjournment. The demand for ewes in lamb was poor to-day when compared with previous weeks. The mast sought after were hoggets. 'One good line of mixed sex woolly hoggets bought 15s lid. There were, however, not many pens of good quality store sheep offered. The yardings included 246 fat sheep, 7 head of fat cattle, 9 pigs, and' 2636 store sheep. The following business had been dealt with up to the luncheon adjournment:— Fat Sheep: 40 .ewee 17s lOd, 8 wethers 18s 6d, 13 ewee no bid, 82 do. (p) 16s, 65 do. 16s 6d, 26 do. 18s 4d, 4 do. 18s, 8 wethers (p) 17s. Fat Cattle: 6 cows (p) £2 10s, 1 do. £3 ss.

Pigs: 2 good weaners 16s 6d, 2 pork crs 355, 1 do. 31s, 4 young sows 345.

Store cattle: 45 18-monlh steers and heifers (p) £2 12s 6d, 1 steer (no bid), 1 P.A. steer (p) £2 IDs, 2 cow* £4, 2 yearling steers (p) £1 10s, 1 Jersey cow £2 7s 6d, 1 do. £1 is. Nineteen steers, part of a line of 45 head of store cattle, offered on behalf of Mr Rutledge, sold at* £3 a hend. Store tattle generally were poor, and no buy- ■ crs were operating. There was little or no demand for dairy stuff, owing probably to so many clearing sales. A few lines of weaners sold at satisfactory prices.
