In the Legislative Assembly, in introducing the Coinage Bill, the Minister for Finance stated that for tho present gold would not be coined. When it was if, would be the British sovereign with tho South African mint mark. The same coinage ' would be adopted as at present,, except the crown and farthing, which would be dropped. Thero was no intention of adopting decimal coinage.
