In the Assembly General Smuts announced that the Union Government had denounced the Mozambique convention, which had been in existence before the Union and regulates the distribution of railway traffic to the Transvaal between Portuguese and Union ports, also the supply of native labor Irom Portuguese territory to the Rand mines. The denunciation is operative from April, 1923. General Smuts said both sides were dissatisfied with the terms, but the Portuguese Government bad been invited to a conference at Capetown to discuss tho terms of the new convention.
