HOLY TRINITY Y.M. CLUB.

The annual meeting of, the Holy Trinity Young Men's Club was held in the 'Parish Hall last evening. The Rev. Canon Packe presided over a good attendance. The annual, report submitted by the secretary stated that tho resuscitation of the club in July last has proved a complete success. A monthly syllabus had been drawn up, including, for the instruction and entertainment of the members, a monthly address by Canon Packe, and games, mock elections, debates, and generally social evenings. A number of gifts for the ecpuipment of the club rooms were acknowledged, and the club had also been successful in securing the use of tho tennis court at Tc Rau for the use of members of both the Girls' and Young Men's Clubs. A gratifying successful feature of the session had been the entertainments given jointly by members of both clubs, with outside assistance, while other successful functions were the combined social held by tho two clubs during the dancing season, and a dance held in aid of the Magistrate's fund for unemployment. \ The net proceeds from this latter function were £27 Os (Hd, which sum had been lif.ntied over to tho Kaiti Hill work. A picnic at tho Holc-in-tho-Wall had been well attended by the members of both clubs, and church property improvement had been undertaken. The corporate Communion hail not been very well attended, and better results were hoped for during the coming year. Donations from the club funds had been made to the Sunday school picnic fund. The membership had been steadily increasing, and now stood at 1.1 fi. The report was adopted. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows:: —Patron, Mr. Mil-field; president, Rev. Canon Packe; vice-presidents, Rev. T. A. Cato, Messrs. J. S. Barton, 5.M.,-C. E. Armstrong, 11. Cato, Geo. Wildish, A. L. Muir, T. Ellery, R. J. Eastwood, F. R. Hill; chairman of committee, Mr. W. P. J. Long; committee, Messrs. J. Renwick, junr., T. H. Bell, Kirby, H. Shelton, E. Morell, N. Hawkins, Kohn; hon. secretary, Mr. H. L. Hueston; hon. treasurer, Mr. W. MeKeaguc; hon. auditor, Mr. P. L. Redward. A resolution was moved by Mr. H. L. Hueston, proposing to amend the membership rule in such a manner as to read, "That all young men of Protestant denomination may also be admitted to membership." The resolution was looked upon as giving opportunity for the intrusion of sectarianism, and this possibility was deprecated by the president, and by Ihe chairman "of the committee. Canon Packe declared that he did not like to se>i any mention in the rules ot denominationalism, and Mr. Long-pointed out that the r'des as they stood provided for the admission of any young man, no matter what church he might belong to. Tho specification of the Protestant, churches.might raise friction. The president again spoke, stating that he would nover raise his voice against any denomination. The Church of England would accept anyone, in the forms of its broadest, principles, and he had, in fact, performed the baptismal service over a number of Roman Catholic children. The Anglican Church, he remarked, was the most united in the world to-day. He xjersonally felt; that, he did not care to take a stand on the question of denominationalisni. Mr. M. Oman identified himself with the. remarks of the president and chairman, and Mr. Hueston intimated that he would withdraw his motion. Commenting further on the matter, the Yicar said that if Roman Catholics cared to join the club they should be able to do so. He characterised denominationalism as a "wild cat" system, and urged the mombers of the club to work towards the big ideals. A briof discussion of details followed, and the meeting later dissolved, with votes of thanks to the officers of the old year, and to tho president and the press.
