A letter from the Shaw, Savill, and Albion Shipping Company, re further calls of steamers at Hides Bay. was read and received.
The Gishorne Sheepfarmers P.M. and M. Company, Ltd.. wrote re the uncertainty of the shipping companies despatching meat- boats to Hioks Bay under the present loading conditions. —The Chairman advised that he had already dealt with this matter.
It was proposed by Mr. Kemp: "That the Chairman, Dr. "Wi Repa, and Mr. McClutchie he empowered to meet Cap tain Holmes re temporary wharf at Hicks Bay."'—Seconded by Mr. Kemp, and carried.
Mr. Kohere inquired whether,, since the temporary jetty had altogether col lapsed, the Board' could proceed with the permanent wharf, even with one span. It was thought nothing could be decided on till Captain Holmes had been consulted.
Mr. Kohere further suggested that, the Prime Minister, on his visit to the Coast, should he deputationised by the Board, and asked, to come to the assistance of the Board in its difficult position, foi steps must be taken immediately to i«lieve the situation in regard to the meat in the freezing works.—Mr. King Reed thought it was a case where the State should step in to render help.
