FIRST MEETING OF BOARD
AN AUCKLAND COMPLAIN!
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, last night. The first meeting of the Meat Poo) Board was held at Wellington to-day. The Minister for Agriculture met and welcomed the members of the Board, and wished them every success in their important task. Unfortunately, all the members were not able to be present, so it was decided to deal with formal and preliminary business. The election ol ;. chairman,'for which a full attendance is wanted, will take place at to-morrow's meeting. An informal discussion took place regarding the functions .of tin Bond and the most effective method of parrying them out. AUCKLAND, last night.
Matters relating to the meat pool were briefly di.-.cussed by the Farmers' Unioi: Executive Mr. A. A. Ross said the mniinei in which the pool was being managed was entirely foreign to tni original intuition of the promoters. It was definitely stated that the Board of Coir, v-"J would be appointed by the producers, wherea.-: the whole business was being engineered by the Government. Mr. C. K. Wilson considered the way in which the election had been conducted was a. distinct breach v of faith by the Government.
A motion was carried strongly protesting against the method of election oi the Board, and resenting the action of the Government in refusing to accept Mr. W. D. Hunt's nomination as stockbrokers' representative.
