PADDON CONFIDENT OF SUCCESS. SPDNEY, Feb. 17.—“1 think I can beat Hadfield, but it. is sure to be a hard go. 1 am in very good training now, and I hope to be quite fit for the/ race.” These remarks were made by .lames Paddon, the Evans’ Head sculler, prior to his departure for New Zealand yesterday to meet D’Arcy Hadfield for Hie world’s sculling championship. Paddon was accompanied by his brother, Richard, Jack Casey, and Eddie Larsen, who are to act. as trainers and pace-makers.
